Part 2 · How a credit is spent
ZENITH Credit Management
How a credit turns into an order — the same two flows, step by step.
Archive flow
3 steps · flexible AOImax(AOI ∩ footprint, minimum). The clip is what
you pay for, so on a small AOI the floor is the price — 25 km² (5×5) or
100 km² (10×10) depending on the provider. An AOI spanning several archive scenes is
clipped and priced scene by scene.
Exception — BlackSky sells whole images; the AOI selects which
images, it does not reduce the price.
ceil(AOI ÷ footprint), always ≥ 1. The scene price is the minimum.
Tasking flow
4 steps · AOI is a collection requestmax(AOI, minimum). Unlike archive, the AOI is
not a clip of existing pixels — it is what the satellite is asked to collect, so it is
bounded by the provider's capture block and a large AOI splits into several captures, each
with its own minimum and tier price.
Exception — BlackSky prices per image per tier; area is not part of
the calculation.
ceil(AOI ÷ footprint), always ≥ 1.
Part 3 · The catalogue, in plain English
Product Knowledge
Vendors
- Archive
- Pictures already taken. They exist — you are buying a copy, so there is no waiting and no weather risk.
- Tasking
- Asking a satellite to go and take a new picture. You pay more, and how much more depends on how big a hurry you are in.
- Pixel size
- How much ground one pixel covers. 30 cm means one pixel ≈ a dinner plate — you can tell a car from a van. 3 m means you can see the building, not the car.
- What you pay for
- Three different meters. Per km² — you pay for the area you draw. Per image or per scene — you buy the whole picture at a fixed price, whatever size your area of interest is.
- Can you order it?
- Some things a provider sells are not plumbed into ZENITH yet. A ✓ means a customer can actually order it today; a — means the provider offers it but we do not.
The European option. Three families of camera satellite: Pléiades Neo for the sharpest detail, Pléiades in the middle, and SPOT when you need to cover a whole province cheaply. Sold under French law, with obligations to the French MoD — and the Gulf is blocked on the FADA contract.

| Satellite | Launched | Pixel size | Colours it sees | Strip width |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pléiades Neo 3 & 4 | 2021 | 0.30 m | Pan + 6 (incl. Deep Blue, Red Edge) | ~14 km |

Two shelves. Archive is what has already been photographed; tasking is a new photograph, and the plan you choose is how much of a hurry you are in.
| Product | Pixel size | Available as |
|---|---|---|
| Pléiades Neo | 30 cm | Archive and tasking |
| Pléiades Neo HD15 (AI-sharpened) | 30 cm | Archive and tasking |
| Pléiades | 50 cm | Archive and tasking |
| SPOT | 1.5 m | Archive and tasking |
Smallest order: 25 km² from the archive, 100 km² for a new photograph — a smaller area still pays for that much. Each of the four tasking plans carries its own rate, rising with urgency.

The sharpest and deepest optical catalogue on the market, and the only one that sells SWIR — an infrared band that sees through haze and smoke. Renamed from Maxar Intelligence to Vantor on 1 Oct 2025. The one thing to remember: the price follows the pixel size, not the satellite. The same fleet has a 30 cm price and a 50 cm price.
1Constellation the satellites you are buying from6 satellites · 2 price bands
| Satellite | Launched | Pixel size | Price band | Colours it sees | Strip width |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| WorldView Legion (6 sats) | from 2024 | 0.29 m | 30 cm | Pan + 8 | ~9 km |
| WorldView-3 | 2014 | 0.31 m | 30 cm | Pan + 8 + 8 SWIR (sees through haze) | ~13.1 km |
| WorldView-2 | 2009 | 0.46 m | 50 cm | Pan + 8 | ~16.4 km |
| WorldView-1 | 2007 | 0.50 m | 50 cm pan | Black & white only | ~17.6 km |
| GeoEye-1 | 2008 | 0.41 m | 30 cm | Pan + 4 | ~15.2 km |
| WorldView Radar (Umbra partner) | — | 0.25–1 m | — | X-band radar | mode-dependent |
Why the price band column matters. From the archive you pay whatever band the scene belongs to, so the identical area costs more off Legion than off WorldView-2. GeoEye-1 delivers 41 cm but is charged at the 30 cm rate.

Lots of small satellites in tilted orbits, so they pass over the same place many times a day and at different times of day — useful when when matters more than how sharp. Sold by the whole picture, not by area, so a small area of interest does not make it cheaper.
1Constellation the satellites you are buying from2 generations
| Generation | Pixel size | Colours it sees | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gen-2 ("Global") | ~1 m (0.83 m spec) | Pan + RGB — no infrared | The workhorse fleet; small pictures, about 30 km² each |
| Gen-3 | 0.35 m (SWIR 1.2 m) | Pan + colour + SWIR | From 2024. SWIR means it can shoot at night and through poor weather; aiming at hourly revisit and delivery in about an hour |
The orbits are tilted rather than polar, so coverage is good to about ±60° latitude and thin beyond it.

Nighttime has to be commissioned — neither generation keeps night pictures in the archive, so there is nothing to buy back off the shelf. Note how steep the hurry is here: the gap between Standard and Elite is the widest of any provider.
3Tasking tiers how big a hurry you are in1 of 4 orderable

Only bsg-standard is plumbed in, and the generation is not selectable
either — so a customer cannot currently choose Gen-3 over Gen-2. Add-on analytics (counting
vehicles, aircraft, ships) carry one surcharge, however many you ask for.

Builds its own satellites, so it can fly a lot of them cheaply and pass over the same place often. Also sells whole satellites and reserved capacity to governments — which is how AIN-1, our own satellite, exists.

2Product details what you can order, and the list priceprice list missing
We do not have their price list. Satellogic publishes its rates on its own website rather than in the agreement pack, so the retail rate card for the shared fleet is still blocked. Our own discount off that list is known and rises with annual spend.
Only one delivery level is plumbed in (L1D), and hyperspectral, video
and repeat-visit ordering are not exposed — so today a customer can order a plain colour picture
and nothing else.
3Tasking tiers how big a hurry you are in1 of 3 orderable

Source: Satellogic Integrator Agreement (signed 2026-03-30)
We own this one. Physically it is newsat50, an HR70-class Satellogic NewSat that Satellogic flies for us on a dedicated contract. It photographs at 0.7 m and is sharpened to about 0.5 m on delivery. Because there is no wholesale bill, every credit spent on AIN-1 is margin — which is why the free edition is allowed to use it and nothing else.
1Constellation the satellite you are buying from1 satellite
| Satellite | Pixel size | Flown by | How it is identified |
|---|---|---|---|
| newsat50 / SN50 (HR70 class) | 0.7 m native · ~0.5 m delivered (preview ~0.93 m) | Satellogic, on a FADA-owned satellite | NORAD 60493 · dedicated contract, priority 13 |
It appears in ZENITH as its own sensor, kept separate from the shared Satellogic fleet, so nothing about AIN-1 can affect Satellogic orders or pricing.
2Product details what you can order, and the pricebilled per km²
| Product | What it is | How it is billed |
|---|---|---|
| Archive | Already photographed — L1D / L1D_SR | Credits per km², discounted by tier |
| Rush tasking | A new photograph — L1D / L1D_SR | Credits per km², discounted by tier |
The list rate is still a proposal, and it is the decision that matters — the tier discounts are a percentage of a figure nobody has signed off. The free edition is pinned to Silver's rate so it can never undercut a paying customer.
3Tasking tiers how big a hurry you are inrush only

| Standard | Not offered on the dedicated contract at all | — | — |
There is only one speed, so on AIN-1 there is no hurry-up decision to make — on every edition, rush is the only way to get a new photograph.
The biggest fleet in orbit, built for frequency rather than sharpness: PlanetScope photographs the entire land surface every day at about 3 m. SkySat adds 50 cm on request and Pelican is bringing 30 cm. PlanetScope is a standing feed you subscribe to, not something you point at a target.

Japanese radar satellites. Radar makes its own illumination, so cloud, smoke and darkness make no difference — and because the measurement is so precise it can show ground sinking or a structure shifting by millimetres between two passes. FADA only: not available under the MOD contract.

Worth knowing: Synspective only counts a picture as "archive" once it is 30 days old. Anything fresher is charged at the new-photograph rate — see Product details.
2Product details what you can order, and the list pricebilled per scene · 7 modes
With radar you do not choose a hurry level, you choose a mode — and the mode fixes both how sharp the picture is and how much ground it covers. Sharper means smaller.

|---|---|---|---|
| Umbra SAR | 0.16 m headline · 0.25 m orderable | X-band, VV or VH polarisation | Polar, about 560 km, flown in tandem pairs; 32 satellites planned |
The 16 cm headline is not something you can order — the products on sale are 0.25, 0.35, 0.5, 1 and 2 m. Umbra also publishes free imagery over 1,000+ locations under CC-BY-4.0, with 20+ refreshed weekly.
2Product details what you can order, and the list pricebilled per image
Two things drive the price: how sharp you want it, and how many looks — repeat passes of the radar beam averaged together to cut the speckle and make the picture readable. More looks is a cleaner image, and costs more. The sharper you go, the fewer looks are available.
| Sharpness | Looks available | Footprint |
|---|---|---|
| 1.0 m | 1 – 10 | 5 × 5 km, or the natural footprint |
| 0.5 m | 1 – 8 | 5 × 5 km, or the natural footprint |
| 0.35 m | 1 – 5 | 5 × 5 km, or the natural footprint |
| 0.25 m | 1 – 3 | 5 × 5 km, or the natural footprint |
| Scan — long strips | Sharpness | Longest strip |
|---|---|---|
| Scan (a long strip, not a square) | 0.5 m | up to 50 km |
| Scan | 1.0 m | up to 75 km |
| Scan | 2.0 m | up to 100 km |
A 10 × 10 km picture is cut from the natural footprint at no extra charge, and the same price applies whether the image already exists or you are asking for a new one.
3Tasking tiers no ladder here — you pick a mode2 modes, both orderable
| Mode | What you give it | What you get | Can you order it? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spotlight | A single point | A square picture — 4×4, 5×5 default, 10×10 km, or the natural footprint | ✓ |
| Scan | A line between two points | A long strip about 8 km wide — up to 100 km at 2 m, 75 km at 1 m, 50 km at 0.5 m | ✓ |
There is genuinely no urgency lever to buy — no tiers exist, so nobody can pay to jump the queue ahead of you either.
